Poltical Correctness my butt.

Ok as some (well few) of you know a peace of music I’m singing in choir words were edited for “poltical corectness” but also offters the orgional songs words to what it was based off of, we started with orginal then moved to edited then back to orgional then today back to edited. (my choir teacher said “We going back to the edited words and leave it there becasue it “sounds” better and I’m leaving it at that) (granted she knows about how I feel about the edit words that you will find out after this post) First let me say whats so polticaly corect about poltical corectness?! “Oh it offends no one” you may say WRONG! “White” poeple can’t call “black” people “black” but we must call them “Aferican Americans” but yet they can call “white” people “white” and not Cacasion(SP?). It also restricts many of the freedoms given to us (americans) in the Bill of Rights and conterdicts the Preamble of the Constition, you may ask how? here it is. All men are created equaly endound by there CREATOR with cirten enalbial rights Then there is the freedom of Relgion, and speech. Don’t get me wrong I can care less if your Wite, Black, Jew, what ever. I do not go up to people who don’t beleave the same thing as me and force them to read the Bible, but yet they force me to conform to a non relgion state, HELLO THIS IS LIKE WHAT HILTER TRYED TO DO BY ELMITING POEPLE AND BELEAVE THAT DID NOT AGREE WITH HIS VIEWS! Oh and what about “offince langue” (AKA cuss words) There used every day now the offince langue now is words like “God” “Relgion” ect ect.

So why you may ask am I upset? Christmast was orgionaly about celbrating Jesus Christ’s birth who the Christian’s beleave is there savior. I don’t go around editing songs from other relgions’ and no its not becasue it’s the law were singing that we sing the orgional versions of “O Holy Night”, “Battle Hyme of the Rebublic” and others. It’s for a Christmast show so why the must we edit? It’s not like that people will not think that there will be no relgious songs there. Oh and saying if you were forced to is BS do what I do block it out of your head and think of something else.

Indeed, the edited version is icky and not necessary. I see absolutely nothing wrong with the original lyrics that would require it to be changed, it is not an offensive song.
Oh, and also:
I’m not sure where you heard that. None of my black friends even like me calling them African American. Only white people are uncomfortable with the word black. Lord only knows why. The word black isn’t an insult, it’s just the name of a color. :huh: Sometimes “political correctness” is ridiculous. Being overly cautious about trivial things is almost as bad, because it emphasizes how you feel or how much you know about the issues you are avoiding, and it’s not a good emphasis.
Be it religion or race, I see no need to go as far as censoring perfectly acceptable things just because there may be people present that see things differently. Being different is not insulting. A nice Christian song edited because maybe a Muslim person, for example, might be present and feel insulted. But think about it, if you went to a Muslim performance and they sang about their religion, why would you feel insulted? (This is all keeping in mind that none of the songs are saying that any one religion or idea is better than another, they are simply talking about things from their own religion.) Those kinds of changes only further pronounce the differences between people, and pushes them further apart. I think it’s more insulting to hear that someone edited something so trivial just because they were afraid I couldn’t handle listening to it.
Heh, maybe you should show your teacher or whoever some of the comments you received from your post, it might enlighten them a bit. Oh, and I hope you don’t feel that I lectured you, my little lecture was more for those that feel the need to be “politically correct” to a point that makes no sense.

I agree with you 100%, this is absolutely ridiculous. I’d say more but everything to be said has been said. The media just makes it feel like everyone is this way, but its really not, and the media is teh suck. I just had to tell everyone that the media is the suxors. Thanks for reading. =D

ahh.. Funny how you say you don’t go editing songs from other religions… but as it happens, christmas was invented because pagans wouldn’t stop their feasting in the darkest time of year. That is editing the history behind yule, you… you… ignorant person!

1) We never edited history, I know and accepte that some holidays came from pagan fests but the chruch in the middle ages added relgious values to them.
