Weird perhaps, but wonderful too. And scary. That's how any change is. Five hundred years ago, printed books were the new and weird technology.

I'm in favour of the move to cloud computing, as it makes more sense for our generation's needs. Sadly, we live in a fast-paced society where one is constantly on the move. By storing data off-site, one has instantaneous access from one's phone, laptop, etc. Plus, the data's safe if something happens to a single device, or if one's house burns down or something.

The privacy concerns raised by opponents of cloud computing are valid concerns. However, I think that more responsible regulation of the industry will help alleviate privacy problems. And in general, our society will shift to correct them over time too. We're already storing our personal data with banks and stuff (who seem to give it away pretty easily, if you've seen some of the news in the past few months!). This won't be much different.

I'm pretty OK with Google taking over the world. As long as they give me cookies (the good kind, not the evil ones).
